Copland’s Clarinet Concerto [Jan. 9/2013]

Principal clarinetist Graham Lord takes centre stage for Aaron Copland’s Concerto for Clarinet, Strings, and Harp, originally written for jazz clarinetist Benny Goodman. Ives’ The Unanswered Question, Villa-Lobos’ Bachiannas Brasileiras No. 9, Oesterle’s The Sparrow’s Ledger, and Viver’s Zipangu are also on this exciting program by composers from the Americas.

Mahler: Songs of the Earth [Apr. 24/ 2013]

Gustav Mahler’s famous symphonic song cycle, Das Lied von der Erde, explores life, death, nature, and the passing of time.  The evening opens with Mahler’s poignant Kindertotenlieder.
